Ministerial Announcement - Heritage Penalties
In June, the Minister for Heritage, Hon Michelle Roberts MLA, made an important announcement regarding proposed changes to the range and scope of penalties available to protect heritage places and values. This announcement was timely given the general consensus of the Heritage Summit on 28/29 May that the rapid rise in land values and potential profits had diminished the effectiveness of both existing penalties and incentives. National History Challenge 2008
The National Trust is a proud sponsor of the National History Challenge and invites students from years 5 to 12 to enter this research based competition. It gives students a chance to be an historian, investigating their community and exploring their own past and heritage. It emphasises and rewards quality research, the use of community resources and effective presentation. (more...)
