Our Constitution

The History Council of Western Australia is incorporated as a not for profit association under the Associations Act. The original constitution was adopted in 2003 on incrporation has been amended once (Annual General Meeting 2007) to facilitate processing for Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status. Application for DGR status is currently underway.

The strategic direction of the History Council of Western Australia is governed by an elected Council. The current Council whose terms of office expire with the Annual General meeting on 2 September are:

Getting Involved

From its inception the History Council has sought to integrate the expertise and skills of its membership to facilitate the broad objective of establishing history in the consciousness of governments and communities. Members are encouraged to become involved in the activities of the History Counciul through one of the following Sub Committees:

Communications Sub Committee

 

One of the Objects of the History Council is to function as an information, communication and referral centre for individuals and organisations in the history community. To assist in achieving this object, the History Council has formed a Communications Sub Committee.

History Advocacy Sub Committee

 

One of the Objects of the History Council is to function as an advocate for history and heritage. To assist in achieving this object, the History Council has formed a History Advocacy Sub Committee.

Would you like to help us in other ways?

Several of our members have offered to volunteer to help us out with certain tasks e.g. becoming involved in a working party or sub committee, speaking at an event, serving on a government body or other admin istrative tasks. Unfortunately, we have not had the time to follow this up as yet.

In addition, we have several new members join us this year and it would be nice to meet you and for you to meet some of the other History Council members. Perhaps you also have ideas for events or social functions or have contacts or information that you would like to pass on.
