PRIVACY STATEMENT — HISTORY COUNCIL OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA INC
The Australian Privacy Act requires The History Council of Western Australia Inc to provide information to our members about the collection, use and disclosure of their personal information. This Privacy Statement is prepared in conjunction with the Privacy Commissioner’s ten National Privacy Principles (NPPs).
1. Collection of Information
The History Council of Western Australia Inc collects information from members such as title, full names, postal and street address, telephone, facsimile and e-mail contact details (both private and business). Additional information is requested regarding credit card details (when paying by credit card). This information is collected directly from new and renewing members from membership forms.
2. Use of Information
This information is collected, held and used by The History Council of Western Australia for the purposes of servicing your membership and of providing information to you related to The History Council of Western Australia’s activities. It is understood that the personal information/contact details you provide will be held and used for such purposes, in accordance with The History Council of Western Australia’s Privacy Statement.
3. Access and Correction of Information
You have the right to access the personal information we have about you at any time and to provide any amendments where necessary. The History Council of Western Australia tries to ensure that all information collected, stored, or, disclosed is accurate, complete and up to date. Should your personal information change, please notify us as soon as possible.
4. Disclosure of Information
- The History Council of Western Australia Inc discloses personal information (such as name and contact details) to members when required for membership purposes including authorised surveys for internal research purposes.
- The History Council of Western Australia Inc discloses this information to agents that post out its publications and newsletters.
- The History Council of Western Australia does not sell, rent to or exchange personal information with any other organisation.
The Membership Application and Renewal forms will have a tick box for members to complete, consenting to the disclosure of information to third parties as described. There will also a tick box for Members to decline to give consent. The wording will be as follows
[ ] I am willing to have my name and contact details disclosed to other parties (approved by the History Council Committee for History Council purposes)
[ ] I am not willing to have my name and contact details disclosed to other parties.
5. Unsolicited material
If deemed relevant by the Committee of the History Council, from time to time unsolicited material may be forwarded to members for their information.
