			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The History Council of New South Wales has <a href="http://historycouncilnsw.org.au/news/post/stop-the-funding-cuts-to-state-records-nsw/" target="_blank">launched a campaign </a>to highlight the risks to historical research caused by funding cuts to the State Records Authority of New South Wales, and the closure of their Rocks based research centre.</p>
<p>Archival research is fundamental to the writing and understanding of history.  <a title="State Archives" href="http://www.historycouncilwa.org.au/advocacy/cultural-infrastructure/state-archives" target="_blank">Our archives,</a> both in this state and elsewhere, are at risk.</p>

<p>John Gavin&#8217;s story has been retold in a new play at the<a href="http://www.blueroom.org.au/blueroomseasons/johngavinhttp://" target="_blank"> Blue Room in Northbridge</a>. The play ends on 5 May.</p>

<p>The State Records Office of Western Australia has a <a href="http://www.sro.wa.gov.au/events/lunchtime-seminars" target="_blank">Lunchtime Seminar </a>on Researching the Colonial Secretary&#8217;s Office records on 18 April.</p>
<p>The City Gatekeepers have a <a href="http://citygatekeepers.com.au/" target="_blank">free lecture and expert panel</a> on the topic of the Perth Waterfront, to be held on the evening on 18 April, at the Octagon Theatre at UWA.</p>
<p>Also on 18 April, the National Trust will be celebrating International Day of Monuments and Sites with a forum at the Crown Theatre, Fremantle Prison<a href="http://www.historycouncilwa.org.au/australian-heritage-week-14-22-april-2012/ /20120402-wh-flier" rel="attachment wp-att-548"> Internation Day of Museum and Sites &#8211; NTWA forum</a>.  The forum kicks off a month of events, focused on <a href="http://www.ntwa.com.au/content/heritage-festival-2012">innovation and invention.</a></p>
