National Archives

A recent article in the Guardian has alerted us to the ongoing problem of reduced funding for the National Archives and the potential loss of historical records.

It is absurd that the institution that protects and preserves our historical records should be forced to resort to crowdfunding to raise the money to continue its work, yet that is the current situation. The article is important for what Jenny Hocking describes as the “unedifying spectacle” of the institution directing funds towards a costly court battle to protect the Palace Letters from being made public, while funding for its most important work is being cut.
